通常，在美國的百貨公司或者服飾店買某些品牌的衣服已經比在台灣或者大陸買便宜很多了。但是在美國還有很多商家是所謂的off price商店，他們提供了更低的促銷價。常見的知名品牌像是Polo、Tommy Hilfiger等等很多時候都是零售價兩三折的價格。
什麼是Off price？
Off price指的其實就是以比一般零售商店便宜的價格銷售商品。這些提供off price的店家，會去尋訪各個市面上知名或是國外的品牌，當這些品牌設計的某些商品過量時，他們就會去談判大批以低價購買進貨。接著，他們就以特別低的價格出售來吸引消費者。在這些店家裡面就是要發揮翻箱倒櫃、掃街式的精神，這樣應該是可以撿到寶的。舉例來說，Polo 的羽毛衣一件$50，一件polo杉$20，docker的毛衣一件$5等等都是很常見的。如果妳住的城市也有這種off price的商店，那你每次去翻箱倒櫃又加試衣服的過程也可以當作運動哩～
Mark down policy
除了基本售價就已經比其他零售店的售價便宜之外，這些店家通常還有自己的折價系統。基本的原則是服飾進來的時間越久價格越低。所以買東西變成一種有趣的休閒，妳可以賭賭看想要購買的衣服或其他商品可不可以稱到等到下一次的折扣時間，也可能到那個時候就賣光了。
買衣服還買什麼？
通常是一個店家內會擺設各種品牌的商品，商店裡面有的商品包含的範圍很廣，從服飾、配件、鞋子、手錶、電器產品、廚具、寢具、裝飾、化妝保養品、香水、行李箱等等各式各樣的商品都有。妳如果剛到美國或剛搬到一個新城市，妳可以去這些店家看看寢具像是枕頭、床套、棉被等等，通常妳都可以找到很知名的品牌的寢具然後可以用Target等超市的價錢購買喔。去這些店家，建議你安排至少一到兩個小時才能好好撿寶喔。

AJ Wright 是在1988年成立，目前是TJX Companies 旗下的一個連鎖品牌，有約129分店。跟其他的Off price 商店不同的是，大部分的分店都是固定每週都會有進新貨 [2]。大部分的分店都位於美國中東部，如果你想要看看你家附近有沒有分店的話，可以利用他們的店家搜尋網頁。

Burlington Coat Factory是在1924年成立，該公司轉變成現今的模式是1972年在 Burlington, New Jersey開的一間分店，主要銷售皮草大衣和外套 [3]。近年逐步加入各類商品，像是鞋子、西裝、配件還有嬰兒用品等等。

Century 21 是一個連鎖百貨公司，主要分店都在紐約，包括 Manhattan, Long Island, Brooklyn, Morristown, Paramus，目前一家新的分店正在Rego Park籌畫。最大的一家分店是在Manhattan，位於世貿大樓舊址的附近，每天都是滿坑滿谷的人，在這裡買衣服很像在菜市場買菜，呵呵。
他的網頁設計的很不錯，提供了詳細的交通資訊，搭地鐵、公車、火車、計程車、哪裡停車等等。

Factory 2-U 是主要在中西部的off price商店於1962年成立 [4]，銷售服飾、嬰兒用品、寢具、行李箱等等。

Filene's Basement 是美國最早開始的off price商店，1908年於Boston成立 [5]。最初的店面位於Filene爸爸開的百貨公司樓下，銷售的商品就是百貨公司過剩服飾、商品，然後以低價促銷。因為很受歡迎，所以很多不同公司也都將過剩商品給Filene銷售。他發明了一個標價系統叫做「Automatic Mark Down System」。就像前面提到的，從進貨那天開始，服飾商品待在店裡的時間越久，價格就越便宜，從25% off 到 50%，最後到75%。那些沒有銷售出去的衣服最後就捐給慈善機構 [6]。
主要的商店分佈於 District of Columbia (DC), Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia等州。

Loehmann's 於1921年成立，提供30% - 65%的折扣，以往以女性服飾商品為主，近年也逐步增加男士服飾。

T.J. Maxx 是全美最大的off price連鎖商店，由TJX Companies所擁有。銷售的商品包括知名品牌的 clothing, Ladies footwear, bedding & domestics, furniture & giftware, jewelry, beauty products, handbags, 以及 housewares。所有商品跟一般零售價比較都至少有 20 - 60% 的折扣。2004年底已經有771家分店而且還繼續在擴增中。在英國和愛爾蘭也有分店（店名為「TK Maxx」）。商店平均佔地面積約為 30,000 square feet [16]。

1. 稅：
每一州的消費稅都不一樣，對於購買衣服的稅也是。有些州購買服飾是免稅的，所以如果你要旅遊到美國不同地方時，建議你查查當地買衣服的稅來決定你要在哪一州大肆採購，這樣可以讓你買的更開心喔！
2. 還有哪裡可以買？
除了前面所說的這些off price商店之外，過季商品中心（Outlets ）和網路購物也是兩個可以找到便宜好貨的地方喔。過季商品中心通常都是由許多品牌商店聚集的mall，各個品牌將自己過季剩餘的服飾都在這邊做低價促銷。而網路購物是可以利用不同的coupon而減低購買的價格。我們將在以後跟你分享。
